Dr.Farhad Handjani is an associate professor at the dermatology department of Shiraz University of Medical Sciences and the head of the molecular dermatology research center at the same institute.
He received his B.A in biology and history from Northwestern University Evanston,U.S.A in 1985 ,and his Medical degree from Shiraz university of Medical Sciences(SUMS), Iran (1991) . Following his graduation ,he completed post-doctoral training including Dermatology residency at SUMS.
He has been the founding editor-in-chief of Yasuj University Medical Journal as well as Middle East Journal of Cancer published at Shiraz university of Medical Sciences. He is also the chief editor of the Iranian Journal of Dermatology.
He is the President and a member of board of directors of Fars Society of Dermatology ,President of the Iranian Society of Dermatology , and member of the Iranian National Medical Council, and InternationalS of Dermatology.
He is also a member of the Iranian Medical Journals Commission (Iranian MOH), President of the Eastern Mediterranean Association of Medical Editors and member of the Iranian Board of Dermatology .

Top tenth percentile of medical school graduates at Shiraz University of Medical Sciences (1991), Chancellor’s commendation plaque from Yasuj University of Medical Sciences (Iran) Research fellowship grant, Rene Touraine foundation for dermatological research , St. Louis hospital , France (1999),fellowship from Merieux Foundation , Fourth Advanced Vaccinology Course , France (2003),Young dermatologist travel award , International Ssociety of Dermatology , China (2004) Best teaching award , medical student graduates, Shiraz University of Medical Sciences Iran (2004-2006).
He has also been appointed as a clinical monitor for the World Health Organization /TDR and IVR , Geneva, Switzerland since 2001 , and has monitored leishmania vaccine trails in Iran and Sudan , PKDL immunochemotherapy trial in Sudan , polio vaccine trial in India , and trivalent meningitis trial in Ethiopia.OFLOTUB (TB drug trial ) in Kenya and a multicenter TB/HAART trial in Africa.
Dr.Farhad Handjani has been a facilitator and team member (both WHO/TDR and Iranian MOH sponsored ) in GCP workshops in Iran and abroad since 2001 .
He has also coordinated various scientific writing workshops at SUMS and other Iranian universities.
He has published over 50 research papers in national and international journals and delivered over 50 presentations in international conferences and seminars.
His current H-index is13(according to Scopus).
