Dr.Ahmad Ali Amirghofran is an associate Professor in Cardiovascular Surgery at Shiraz University of Medical Sciences (SUMS) and chairman of department of cardiac surgery at this university.
He received his Board Certificates of General surgery and Cardiovascular surgery respectively in 1994 and 1998 .
Following his graduation from Shiraz University of Medical Sciences (SUMS), he completed his Rotating Internship and General surgery residency, at this university.

He is a member of Iranian Society of Cardiac Surgeons (ISCS), European Association of Cardiothoracic Surgery (EACTS), Asian Association of Cardiothoracic Surgery (AACTS), Iranian Organ Transplantation Association
He was ranked number one in the Iranian national board of cardiothoracic surgery, and for the first time in the world, conducted the right heart operation without cardiopulmonary bypass with the use of temporary TCPC, trans annular RVOT patch with Inflow occlusion technique,
Iatrogenic RV _ Aorta Neo-connection and the first world report of using innominate vein for PA reconstruction . For the first time in Iran, he has also conducted Ross – Konno operation using UDVP for VSD closure, Florida sleeve operation, and he is conducting the only minimally invasive surgery center in Iran, and the main center for total arterial revascularization for coronary bypass grafting surgery.
He has published 38 papers and given persentation in over 87 seminars and conferences.
