Dr. Sayed Ali Malek Hosseini is a Professor of Surgery, and head of organ transplant unit at the Department of Surgery of Shiraz University of Medical Sciences
During his career, he has been appointmented as the director of Faghihi Hospital, chief of Transplantation Section at Surgery Department (SUMs), examiner of Iranian Board of General Surgery, and chancellor of University of Medicine.
After graduation as a medical doctor, he completed his internship at Tehran University, School of Medicine (1974-1981). Following his Residency in General Surgery at Shiraz School of Medicine (1982-1986), he received a Fellowship in kidney transplantation from Shahid Beheshti School of Medicine, Tehran (1987-1988). He was also a research fellow in liver transplantation in Pittsburgh, U.S.A. (1990-1992) and king’s College in London.
He was a member of Archive of Surgery editorial board (2001), and a member of Iranian Academy of Medical Sciences (2005)
Dr. Malek Hosseini stablished the Kidney transplantation ward at Shiraz Medicine School in 1992, and then expanded to organs.
He also performed the first liver transplantation (1992), first partial liver transplantation (1998), and the first liver trnansplantation from right lobe, adult to adult (2002).
He is a member of Iranian board of General Surgery, has over 50 publications in highly cited journals, and has attended more 30 conferences and seminars.
